“It’s this age old question about what mystery is what the unknown is. We can all stand in awe of the unknown and the majesty of what we are part of in this life but I think the beauty of science is that it is as beautiful to me as any religious or spiritual revelation to untag an understanding of your world. There’s so much to wonder at even though we have a really specific understanding of these things we wonder at. It doesn’t diminish the romance of these discoveries. You can still be in awe of something even if you understand it.”

I live in Birmingham in the West Midlands of England. Even though J.R.R Tolkien was born in South Africa he grew up right down the road from where i live. its amazing because many of the different places where i live inspired Tolkien to write The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings.
Sarehole Mill is where Tolkien and his brother Hilary used to play as children, and gave the name “The White Ogre” to the millers son who would chase them away. The mill is said to be the inspiration for the mill at hobbition. the woodland surrounding the mill is called The Shire Country Park.
These Two Towers are called Perrott’s Folly and Edgbaston Waterworks Tower. they are on the same street, meters away from each other. Tolkien lived streets away.
The mill is now a museum and the green around it is where middle earth weekend is held, I've been a few times and its amazing, people dressed up, the Tolkien society, artists and re-enactments: and right over the road from the mill is a cafe called The Hungry Hobbit.
I love my city so much, because it inspired one of the greatest novelists of all time.
Dear Edith, By the time you read this, I will be gone. Your father made evident to me that in my present economic condition, I was not in a position to provide for you, and to this I agreed. He also asked me to break your heart, to take the blame. And to this, I agreed too. By this time surely I’ve accomplished both. But know this; when I can prove to your father that all I ask of him is his consent, and nothing more, then, and only then, will I come back for you. Yours, Thomas.
